ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication authority (PTA) and Ministry of Information Technology have come to cross roads over unblocking of video sharing website YouTube.
PTA has refused to obey orders of I.T ministry until complete authority is given to them. The issue of video sharing website has not been resolved due to three important vacancies. Sources say that ministry ordered PTA that a call centre must be developed to report the availability of blasphemous material on any website. This would help in taking steps regarding unblocking of YouTube. However, PTA rejected and said this could only be done only if proper authority is provided to them.
According to the sources, on getting complete authority by I.T ministry, possibilities of opening up video sharing website could be initiated after giving suggestions to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
