KARACHI: Locals got afraid as shocks of low intensity earthquake have been recorded on Tuesday (today) in Karachi, the coastal city of Pakistan and suburb areas.
Earth quake of 7.8 magnitude on Richter Scale created panic among people of Sindh and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan.
According to US Geological Survey, the magnitude of earthquake in Pakistani areas is 7.8 on Richter Scale.
The local met department said that the epicenter of the quake was 120 km distant from south-east district of Khuzdaar of Pakistan’s Balochistan province while its depth is 10 km inside the land.
Chief Metrologist of Pakistan Dr. Tauseef said that after shocks would continue to hit the same belt.
Locals have started evacuating from the buildings, offices and reciting Holy verses while rescue teams started spreading across the streets and internal areas in order to deal with any major or minor casualty.
Disruption in mobile networks occurred due to heavy load in Pakistan as the annoyed citizens tried to contact their relatives, friends and neighbours colleagues for conveying the earthquake’s information.
The tremors of the quake were felt in northern parts of India including the capital city of New Delhi, Indian media reported.
