RAWALPINDI: More or less 49 alleged criminals involved in high profile cases of terrorism including 5 American nationals have been transferred to Central Jail Faisalabad from Adiala Jail.
An official from the Central Jail Faisalabad revealed that 60 alleged criminals to be kept in the Central Jail Adiala and tight security measures would be undertaken, reported by ‘Dawn News’.
He said that 49 other prisoners have being shifted to Faisalabad on various occasions. They were involved in terrorist attacks on high profile personalities including former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and ex. President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf.
Dr. Usman, who earlier in 2009 was convicted as mastermind behind Rawalpindi army headquarters, has also been shifted to Faisalabad prison. Also, five American Nationals who were said to be culprit behind Sargodha Airbase attack have also been shifted there. In 2009, they were arrested by the law enforcement agencies during a raid at a house in Sargodha.
The 49 alleged criminals were placed in Central Jail Faisalabad in a high security barrack once their shifting was complete.
The senior official of the police said that these criminals were initially shifted to Mianwali then to Faisalabad prison. Nevertheless, the senior official was still unaware of security concern as a main reason for the shift.
The senior official when inquired about the release of any high profile criminal said that the government hasn’t ordered release of any of them.
