ISLAMABAD: Facing a strong criticism from its political opponents for its claims to end load shedding after coming into power, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz government plans to work on various hydro power projects of about 20,000 MegaWatt electricity.
During its election blitz, PML-N leaders had repeatedly made claims to end power crisis from a period to six months to 2 years period.
“The government is working on 6600 megawatt coal fired Gaddani Power Project in collaboration with China,” State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif performed the groundbreaking of the project in Gaddani area.
Abid says that supplying electricity at affordable tariff is the top priority of the government.
“For this purpose‚ we will have to shift from furnace oil to other cheaper fuels like coal fired power generation‚ hydro power solar‚ wind and nuclear power generation,” state media quoted him as saying.
