Samsung has unveiled a smartwatch, Galaxy Gear, and Galaxy Note 3 here at AFA 2013, , Europe’s biggest consumer electronics trade fair, here in Berlin on Wednesday.
The smart watch is with a small screen and offers basic functions like photos, hands-free calls and instant messaging, aimed to work as an accessory to its Galaxy smartphones.
Samsung CEO:
“I believe it will become a new fashion icon in the world,” said J.K. Shin, Samsung’s co-chief executive and head of mobile business.
The companion device will keep users constantly connected, Samsung Executive Vice President of Marketing Lee Young-hee said.
Galaxy Gear smartwatch’s features:
1.63-inch (4.14-cm) screen
a basic camera of 1.9 megapixels
Wireless Bluetooth technology (So you can connect you Note 3 with smartwatch)
No flexible or curved display
It will make calls, display messages, record videos and snap photos, all while the user’s phone stays in their pocket or handbag.

The Gear, which will go on sale later this month for $299
