ISLAMABAD: Sartaj Azizm, the special advisor to Pakistan’s Prime Minister on foreign affairs and national security, recommended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for empowerment of energy deficit countries.
Sartaj Aziz was present in an international conference of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) organized by Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI).
While address in the conference, Aziz drew attention of all participants especially related to energy surplus nations over an important development made after US forces withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014.
He said that the countries interlinked with SCO will significance in the wake of withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan in 2014 hence strategies should be prepared to fulfill demands of energy deficit nations.
Sartaj Aziz reiterated that the SCO has to play a pivotal role in promoting regional peace and stability while the PM’s advisor accepted that promotion of regional cooperation on the basis of mutual interests and benefits are also been made.
He highlighted Pakistan China economic corridor and TAPI energy projects as examples of Pakistan’s efforts to expand cooperation with neighbouring and regional countries.
