KARACHI: Vice Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the former director of National Insurance Company Limited Makhdoom Amin Fahim’s and non-bailable arrest warrants has been issued on Friday by anti-corruption court in NICL case
The Special Federal Anti-Corruption Court-II released arrest warrants of the PPP’s leader after expressing dissatisfaction over Fahim’s absence from the hearing today in Karachi.
An apology for the absence was submitted by Fahim’s lawyer by reasoning of busy schedule due to parliamentary duties.
However, authorities were ordered by the court to arrest Amin Faheem and Qasim Dada in order to ensure his presence in the next hearing of the case.
The former federal minister was facing charges under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Both accused had allegedly caused huge financial losses to the national exchequer by violating rules in the procurement of a piece of land in Korangi.
It is pertinent to note, a total of Rs900 million was embezzled in the purchase of the land in question, with Rs41 million of this amount being transferred in the loan account of Fahim and members of his family in a private bank, in accordance to the origincal charge sheet.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim is a renowned political leader of the country as President of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) and also performing duties as Vice Chairman in Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
