ISLAMABAD: Facing worst power crisis in the country, Pakistan is set to work upon 4,500 Mega Watt electricity capacity dam to end power crisis on permanent basis.
Ministry of Water and Power views that Diamer Bhasha Dam has the capacity to produce electricity up to 4500 MW and it will end the load shedding from the country.
Besides, it will also ensure food and water security in the country, a spokesman of the ministry said.
Pakistan has been suffering through a skyrocketing power load shedding making the economic turmoil of the country even worse. Countrywide protests can be witnessed over the issue with people demanding uninterrupted supply of power to their homes and businesses.
Diamer Bhasha Dam is one of the major future projects proposed by the experts to end power crisis as well as irrigating thousands of acres of land to grow crop production.
The dam will have a capacity to store 6.4 million acre feet water. It will be built over Indus River about 40 KM West of Chilas area of Gilgit Baltistan province.
