LONDON: The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has decided not to publish Owen Bennett-Jones, a freelance British journalist and one of the hosts of Newshour on the television channel BBC World Service, report on Pakistani political party the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and its chief Altaf Hussain.
“After a deep consultation with a lawyer we have decided not to publish the report of Owen Bennett-Jones on our website,” the BBC spokesperson said on Sunday.
The BBC had aired a documentary regarding London police’s investigation over the MQM for possible money-laundering and complaints alleging that Altaf Hussain used his base in the UK to incite violence in Pakistan.
Owen Bennett-Jones has prepared a detailed report over the issue and it was to be published on the British organization’s website. However, now the BBC says the report would not be published on its website.
