MELBOURNE: Pakistan’s legend fast bowler Wasim Akram is engaged to marry Shaniera Thompson Melbourne women, Australian Herald Sun reported.
Left arm bowler 47 proposed Ms Thompson in their lounge room in traditional ‘bended-knee’ style.
Shaniera Thompson said Akram was nervous about proposing in the traditional way.
“It was the romantic moment of my life because it was so genuine,” she said.
According to former public relations at Brighton, Ms Thompson has converted to Islam and will call Pakistan home.
She told Akram: “If we are doing this the traditional way, then you have to ask my father.”
The pair met in 2011 at Melbourne and cricketer said he was happy he had found love.
Akram’s first wife, Huma, died in 2009. They had two boys, now aged 15 and 12.
