ISLAMABAD: With a claim of producing 1300 to 1500 Mega Watt additional electricity before Ramadan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says circular debt will be paid as soon as possible to reduce power shortage.
He was talking with 28 Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to discuss the hot issue of circular debt, which Pakistan Muslim Nawaz thinks as the main cause of prolonged power outages in the country.
Scathing heat with hours long power breakdown in the country has been creating wave of unrest with people calling for immediate steps to end this historic peak of load-shedding.
“As Ramazan is fast approaching, the urgency of providing relief to the masses has increased,” Dar said and viewed that the government was aware of common man’s suffering at the hand of power crisis.
IPPs representative Abdullah Yousaf said the IPPs will produce additional 1300 to 1500 megawatt electricity before the advent of Ramazan to give relief to the people.
