LAHORE: Film star Reema now wife of Pakistani-American Doctor Shahab inaugurated Master CARES Project, a CSR initiative of Master Paints, at Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital.
With an aim to execute the project at hospitals that require help and support, young artists from National College of Arts painted the children wards and library at the hospital.
The company will paint and revamp the aura and ambiance of children/female ward(s) to five different hospitals in a year, thus, taking the initiative nationwide.
At the ceremony superstar Reema said, “It’s our moral duty to support the children of our nation. Cancer is one of the deadliest illness and its all the more painful for children suffering from it. The characters inspired by various games in the children library and the Disney inspired characters in other wards will help calm the fears children have when they are taken for treatment, which in return will help the doctors and the nurses as well.”
Reema urged her fans to come forward and support the cause, and the best way to support is to bring our talents in use as required.
The team selected various themes for different ward/rooms. ‘Glow in the Dark’ is the theme, inspired by Madagascar, for the radiation room that is painted from floor to ceiling. The floor is painted with stepping stones leading a path to the radiation machine. Similarly, ‘Ice Age’ is the theme for the injection room.
Dr Hamayun Bashir Consultant Nuclear Physician at Shaukat Khanum said, “We studied the behavior of the children and after research and discussion with the play therapist, senior doctors and the company we came up with the ideas that have been painted. The environment created for the children is absolutely healthy since the paint provided by the company is led-free, bacteria – free, environment friendly and is low in VOC.”
