Karachi: Fearing worsen law and order situation in Sindh, provincial interim government has requested to send Army to hold peaceful elections in the province.
“The army has been summoned under the light of Article 245 of the constitution of the country,” Interior Ministry of Sindh province said in a statement.
The troops will also be responsible for transportation of ballot papers allover the province.
Earlier, 17 political parties from Sindh had called for calling in the army for peaceful holding of elections.
Liberal parties including Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Awami Natinoal Party were of the opinion that the army could be called in case of any need.
