Lahore: Government College University (GCU) has organised its 11th convocation at Oval Ground on Thursday in which 1400 students were awarded by degrees and medals including 57 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in science, arts and literature.
17 top positions were taken by girls out of 27 in BA/BSc (Hons) programs while boys got 10. Meanwhile, the boys got 14 positions out 20 in sports and co-curricular activities.
The convocation ceremony was chaired by Vice Chancellor GCU Dr. Khaliq ur Rahman while Dean Prof. Dr. Islam Ullah khan, Registrar Prof. Anjum Nisar, Controller of Examination Prof. Dr. A.S. Bukhari was also present.
Dr. Khaliq ur Rahman awarded degrees, gold medal and roll of honours among the brilliant students in curricular, co-curricular and sport areas.
Dr. Khaliq ur Rahman urged the government to provide more grants to the universities of Pakistan and also increase in educational budget up to a minimum of four percent of GDP
