Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission has send names of former assembly members having fake degrees to the Election Commission of Pakistan, here on Friday.
According to sources, the HEC provided list of almost 54 former assembly members to the ECP. The list also includes names of ex-provincial assembly members.
Some of the renowned members having fake degrees include Samina Khawar Hayat, Nasir Ali Shah, Syed Akhwanzada Chattan, Ghulam Dastagir Rajar, Israrullah Zehri, Semal Kamran, Shumaila Rana and Waseem Afzal Gondal.
The sources further said that the HEC also sent the names of 189 members, who have not submitted their Intermediate and Matric degrees.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered the ECP to take action against all fake degree-holding parliamentarians within two days.
A bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, resumed the hearing of the fake degree holders case.
During the hearing, the chief justice ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to initiate action against all fake degree-holding parliamentarians and added that voters should have access to all the data pertaining to the candidates.
