Lahore: Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi has said that the whole bureaucracy in the province would be changed in a week.
Sethi, who took oath a caretaker CM on Wednesday, called on Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), the country’s leading right-wing political party, Amir Syed Munawar Hassan here on Tuesday.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Sethi said that he had discussed the matters pertaining to the holding of free and fair polls with the JI amir.
He said that the JI had given him few suggestions and assured him full support for free and fair election.
Sethi said that his cabinet would be announced soon and it would consist of only five or six person. “I have got permission from the election commission to change the bureaucracy.”
He said that the new Inspector General of police would be appointed within 24 hours.
Hassan said they hoped that Sethi would make the election free and fair.
Sethi later met with the Chaurdhry brothers — Chaudhry Shujaat and Chaudhry Pervez Ellahi — at their residence in the provincial capital.
The caretaker chief minister will also meet Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif.
