It’s almost a month or so when Sony announced its upcoming flagship game console PlayStation 4, but without hinting at its release date and price.
So the curiosity has been increasing around the PS4, which some analysts considered to be the decisive game console for the Japanese technology giant. Presently Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is thought to be the leader in console gaming.
“Sony needs a big hit with this game console,” AFP quoted Forrester analyst James McQuivey as saying.
“Not just because it has lost its dominance in gaming to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, but because the company needs to make what might be its last attempt to be relevant — not as a device maker but as a digital platform,” he further added.
Release Date
Though the game console was announced a month ago, there is officially no news regarding its release date except ‘Holiday Season’ in United States. If we translate ‘Holiday Season’ into a specific month, it most probably be the October, 2013.
Though some tech sites and forums also estimate PS4 release in the beginning of 2014. We have to wait for a solid clue either from an insider or from an informed outsider.
Price
According to a post on The News Tribe, the new game consoles are usually priced around $ 400 to 500. But will consumers, addicted of free or cheap video games on their smartphones and tablets, be willing to pay such an amount, is a million-dollar question.
According to Tech Radar, the Sony is likely to set PS4 price at $ 450 or £ 399. But the site also made a clear disclaimer from the price saying ‘its a pure speculation.’
