Islamabad: Following the Islamabad High Court (IHC) order, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on Thursday redirected all telecom operators to stop all prize schemes immediately.
On March 8, the IHC dismissed the writ petition filed by Warid Telecom, Ufone, Telenor, Mobilink and CMPak ordered the companies to stop all the schemes.
In a letter written to all operators, the Authority stopped the companies to stop all the schemes immediately and warned that legal action would be taken in case of no compliance.
The Authority had also written a letter to operators for stopping all prize schemes last year as it was regularly receiving complaints from customers regarding such schemes offered by various telecom companies.
The PTA had termed these prize schemes as misleading and against Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation and hence had directed all operators to stop such offerings with immediate effect to avoid any legal action.
