ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has asked South African government to arrest the killers of its citizens, the country’s foreign office said on Thursday.
Five Pakistan citizens were killed by unknown armed men in South Africa on Wednesday for putting up resistance during house robbery incident.
“The victims were residents of Chakwal and Sheikhopura district of Pakistan,” Jalil Abbas Jilani, the secretary foreign office told reporters during media briefing here in Islamabad.
Pakistan is going to hold general election in May this year and several foreign observers have requested the country for permission to monitor the polls.
Jilani said that the work was being carried out over the applications of the foreign observers, adding that electoral process was the only interest of the diplomats.
Speaking over the country’s Afghan policy, the secretary said that Pakistan’s Afghan policy had been made with consultation, adding that the country was playing positive role in the Afghan Taliban and the government’s peace dialogues.
To a query, he said that Molvi Faqeer had not been handed over to Pakistan yet.
Commenting over the US drone strikes inside Pakistan, the secretary said that the unmanned planes’ strikes inside the country were against the international law and the sovereignty and the independence.
Reply to another query regarding former Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Jilani said that the foreign office did not know at what status Rehman Malik was going with President Asif Ali Zardari in international tours.
