IHC directs ECP to allot JUI-F ‘closed book’ electoral symbol

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to allot “closed book” as electoral symbol to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islama-Fazl (JUI-F).

The ECP had earlier allotted the JUI-F an open book as electoral symbol.

The JUI-F moved the IHC against the ECP’s decision and pleaded the court to allot it “close book” as election symbol.

A two-member bench of the IHC comprising Chief Justice Anwar Khan Kasi, Justice Showkat Aziz heard the petition and directed the ECP to allot the JUI-F “closed book” as electoral symbol.
