During the five-year tenure of PPP, not only the prices of regular commodities and food essentials increased but up to 100-150 per cent inflation was also recorded at the utility stores running under the government’s administration.
Soon after coming into power, the democratic PPP government lifted the subsidy — provided by ex-president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf to benefit the poor people.
According to a local news paper, at least 2200 products are available in these stores and majority items are of privates companies.
The customers present at the store told the paper that every time they came to store, they found new price of each product.
