Islamabad: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani have agreed to dissolve the Balochistan Assembly on March 19.
According to sources, the consensus came during a meeting between the president and the chief minister here today.
Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek, Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Magsi and Jamait Ulema-I-Islam (Fazl) stalwart Maulana Sherani also attended the meeting.
It is to be mentioned here that the Balochistan Assembly, which was suspended and a governor rule was imposed in the province after a demand from Shiite community who came under a deadly attack in Alamdar Road area of Quetta that killed more than 90 people, was automatically restored on March 14.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan has summoned a meeting of provincial cabinet on March 17, to decide the fate of the assembly.
In a handout issued from the assembly, the cabinet meeting would be held in the Chief Minister Secretariat at 4 pm.
