Islamabad: Pakistan’s National Assembly (NA) on Thursday approved a resolution in favour of Kashmir dispute, strongly condemning the hanging of the separatist leader Afzal Guru.
During the session of the lower house, the lawmakers approved the resolution tabled by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chief and Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The resolution says Pakistan will continue to support the Kashmir people’s independence movement on diplomatic, political and moral grounds.
The lawmakers also strongly condemned the execution of Kashmiri Separatist Leader Afzal Guru and demanded the Indian government to return his body to his family.
Expressing serious concerns over the state’s current situation after Guru’s hanging, the house demanded the Indian government to release all the Kashmir prisoners and allow them to offer their religious activities freely.
The parliamentarian also called for evacuation of Indian forces from the state and implementation of the United Nations’ resolutions.
