Islamabad: Pakistan’s Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday directed Pakistan government to make arrangements of e-voting for the overseas Pakistanis.
A three-judge bench of the apex court—headed by the CJ—conducted the hearing of a petition regarding right to vote of the overseas Pakistanis.
The CJ ordered the Attorney General to meet with Ministry of Information Technology (IT) officials in connection with e-voting facility and submit the report by tomorrow.
CJ Iftikhar remarked that it was practice in many countries to make arrangements for their citizens, living abroad, in their respective embassies. Why didn’t the government take any step to facilitate the overseas for participating in the upcoming general elections?
The hearing of the case was adjourned till Friday, March 15.
