Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday started investigations against all government officials, who helped Tauqir Sadir, former Oil and Gas Regulatory Association (Ogra) Chairman allegedly involved in a scam of Rs 80billion, to escape from Pakistan.
The Bureau started investigation on the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. It is to be mentioned here that on November 25, 2012, the Supreme Court struck down the appointment of Tauqir Sadiq as the Ogra chairman and ordered him to return all the salaries and privileges drawn from the public exchequer as the chairman.
Tauqir Sadiq left for Katmandu with his wife Saiqa and two daughters on December 10 from the Karachi airport and reached UAE. The accused has been arrested in UAE and the Pakistani authorities are trying to bring him back in the country.
The NAB has summoned principal secretary of Prime Minister, Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab, IG Motorway and CCPO Lahore.
The investigations would be performed by DG NAB Balochistan and Deputy Director of the Bureau.
