Karachi: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday said that the Rangers was also equal responsible of Karachi law and order situation along with the police and summoned DG Rangers Major General Rizwan Akhtar to appear before it immediately.
Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry comprises Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan is hearing the case at the apex court’s Karachi Registry.
The bench also hearing the suo motu notice, taken by the chief justice, over the blast in the city’s Abbas Town that killed arround 50 people and injured over 100 others.
During the hearing, the bench held the police and rangers responsible of the unrest in the city.
The bench also ordered the authorities to suspend SSP Rao Anwar immedialy and remarked that how an SSP who himself travelled in an armoured vehicle could protect masses.
The hearing of the case is underway.
