Islamabad: United States Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson called on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman here on Friday.
Rehman is a senior politicians and prominent religious leader in the country and considered to be very close person to Afghan and Pakistani Taliban.
The US ambassador has met Rehman just a day after the JUI-F organised an All Parties Conference over peace efforts in the tribal region of the country.
Pakistani Taliban, battling with the country’s forces since 2008 in the tribal region, have recently offered the government for peace dialogues.
Sources said that the matters of mutual interest and dialogue efforts with the Taliban were came under discussion in the meeting.
