Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army has denied linkages with the banned outfits including Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LeJ) and said that they had carried out operations against the culprits involved in attacks on Hazara community.
In a statement issued on Thursday by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Asim Bajwa said, “19 more check-points were installed and a joint operation with the cooperation of police and intelligence agencies was underway under the supervision of Frontier Corps.”
He said that the decision of imposing governor rule in the province was taken by the civilian government and the army played no role in it.
“Pakistan Army is in favour of holding elections on time and we cannot acquire anything with the delay of the elections,” he said adding that the army would continue backing the democratic system in the country.
He further said that the nation needed more unity today than in the past.
