Who will win the race of innovation and technology advancement?
The Samsung or the Apple!
The latest race among the two technology giant is in field of ‘Wireless charging’ with both the top guns are in busy to introduce new tech weapon from their arsenal.
Apple’s Wireless Charging Area’
Earlier a report of Patently Apple said that Apple’s genius minds are busy in developing a system and method that could transmit power through near field magnetic resonance (NFMR) in an environment of computing.
Dubbing the new invention as ‘Virtual Charging Area’, the Patently Apple say ” Apple states that their patent covers methods, systems, and apparatus for interacting between a plurality of peripheral devices receiving power wirelessly from a wireless power supply. In one embodiment, a virtual charging area could be created. The virtual charging area will be able to extend to about one meter (3 feet) from a central station that incorporates a NFMR power supply.”
If that idea works, users can charge their devices like iMac’s wireless keyboard, Magic Mouse as well as iDevices like iPhone and iPad simultaneously. This would be a great thing for Apple-addicted users who buy every product of the company.
Samsung’s Wireless Charging Technology
But now Samsung has something new regarding wireless charging. According to Patently Apple Samsung has developed a charging technology in collaboration with South Korea’s Advanced Institute of Science and Technology to compete with its rivals.
Especially designed for smartphones, the technology basically comprises of a receiving circuit with a magnetic resonance capacity of 6.78Mhz. The maximum out is 6MW, 10 times higher than before, with an efficiency up to 87 percent, the Patently Apple further reported.
With the help of a new “Resonant Regulating Rectified” AC-DC switching converter , the circuit enables the device to consume less energy and to make battery life better.
The First Mover is likely to be Samsung
Despite the fact that there is no hint at when the Samsung’s new wireless technology available, hopes are high that it could be introduced with upcoming flagship Smartphone Galaxy S4.
The first mover advantage is a type of thing that could compel Samsung to introduce this wireless technology before Apple, whose technology looks more comprehensive. Apple’s technology is in patent stages and most likely it could be a part of iPhone 6 later this year.
