Glenn McGrath and Charlie Turner will join the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame on Monday night.
Induction of McGrath, who became a member of the ICC Hall of Fame in December, will be the latest in a long line of honours for him.
He was also named Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1998, won the Allan Border Medal in 2000 and was named a member of the Order of Australia in 2008.
McGrath’s 563 wickets in a 14-year Test career, which ended in 2007, remain the most by any fast bowler and fourth-highest overall.
He also took 381 wickets in 250 one-day internationals.
“To be lucky enough to play for as long as I did in an amazing era and now to be inducted in the Hall of Fame is a huge honour,” McGrath said, according to AAP.
“To be featured alongside some of my heroes growing up—guys like Dennis Lillee, Rod Marsh and the Chappells—is pretty amazing too.”
Of the Australian bowlers who have taken 100 wickets, only two – Charlie Turner and Alan Davidson – have a better Test average than McGrath (21.64).
