Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet has approved the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project, putting aside any pressure.
Sources said the Federal Cabinet was informed that the project will complete by January 2015 and Iran will give Pakistan US$500 million in two instalments.
The Cabinet has declared the pipeline project in national interest, adding that the project should be completed as soon as possible.
It has also decided to complete the project with mutual cooperation and not with foreign aid.
In view of the expected sanctions on the Pak-Iran gas pipeline, the cabinet also agreed to form an advisory committee of four institutions.
The committee will include members from the State Bank, Law Ministry, Petroleum Ministry and Ministry of Finance.
