Islamabad: Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan, Sharat Sabharwal said on Monday that recent skirmishes on the Line of Control (LOC) have raised tensions between Pakistan and Indian but it was good that the negotiating process between the two countries was not affected.
Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad, the high commissioner hoped that a new democratic government will come in Pakistan through free and fair polls.
“Stable and democratic Pakistan is in the interest of India,” he added.
Sabharwal further revealed that Pakistan has still not granted the Most Favourite Nation (MFN) status to India, instead of their announcement to give the status till December 31, 2012.
The Indian official further refuted the reports that the Indian government sent back the Pakistani hockey players, participating in the Indian Hockey League.
“It was the organizers, not the Indian government, who returned the Pakistan players due to the aggravated sentiments across the country amid skirmishes on LOC,” he said.
He further said that the visa issuance policy has not been terminated instead it was postponed due to some technical faults.
