Loralai: At least eight coal miners died of gas suffocation in Loralai district of Balochsitan province on Monday morning.
“It was a poisonous gas which accumulated in the mine causing the death of eight miners working inside,” rescue sources said.
The accident took place in a coal mine located in Daki area of the district.
Rescue team rushed at the spot and took out the bodies of eight miners and rescued another.
The sources said that the all the victims were the resident of Swat valley of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, adding that arrangements were being made to shift their bodies to their native city.
Balochistan chief mine officer expressed sorrow over the incident and also ordered an inquiry into the incident. The mine has been closed till further orders.
