Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday has announced a nationwide day of mourning and condemnation on Wednesday (tomorrow) against the deadly blast near MQM mass gathering in Karachi.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the MQM coordination committee said that all activities of the party would be postponed and Fateha would be offered for the deceased people.
“Transport and business activities across the city will not be affected due to the mourning day,” the committee said.
Meanwhile, MQM chief Altaf Hussain has also announced a compensation of Rs0.2 million for the deceased people and directed the party leaders to take special care of the injured activists.
It is pertinent to mention here that at least four people were killed and 42 injured as a powerful blast rocked Federal B. Area of the largest city of Pakistan, Karachi and resulted in great panic in the area.
The site of the blast was close to the venue of a mass meeting of political party MQM, and caused great panic and traffic jam on the adjacent roads. This caused great trouble for the rescue teams to reach their location.
