Quetta: Balochistan Assembly on Wednesday unanimously approved a no-confidence motion against speaker of the provincial assembly Mohammad Aslam Bho0tani.
In the assembly of 64 lawmakers, 48 of them casted their votes for the resolution. The resolution was unanimously approved with 47 members endorsing the resolution while one opposed it.
After the resolution, the speaker was immediately removed from his post and the new speaker will be appointed after the consultation of government parties.
The assembly session has been postponed for the indefinite period.
Earlier, talking to media, Bhootani said that he might move court if “unconstitutional voting” on a no-confidence motion against him was held in the provincial assembly on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, he said the Constitution had been violated while presenting the motion.
“The motion was presented against me after I took the stand that since the Supreme Court has declared the Balochistan government unconstitutional, I will not preside over the assembly session until the status of the provincial government is not clear.”
