London: Though the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4, the successor of the South Korean firms’ most successful smarphone S3, and US’s Apple iPhone 5S are the talk of the town these days and it is expected that both the firms will release their next generation samarphones in 2013.
First post has listed the best smartphone of 2012:
According to International Data Corporation report, over three times more smartphones were shipped than PCs in Q3 of 2012 alone.
IDC also reported that the global smartphone volume in the fourth quarter of 2012 (4Q12) is expected to reach 224.5 million units, which is shows a 39.5 percent year-over-year growth due primarily to strong consumer demand.
Samsung Galaxy S3:
With no doubt the Samsung Galaxy S3 is on the top of 2012’s best smartphones. Samsung launched the Galaxy S3 on 3 May and sold nearly 18 million devices in the third quarter of 2012 alone. In fact, the S3 had a strong start from the beginning with the company selling over 30 million Galaxy S3 devices within 5 months of its launch.
Features:
4.8-inch screen
HD Super AMOLED display screen
Resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels
8 megapixel rear camera with flash

1 GB RAM
Apple iPhone 5:
US tech firm Apple’s iPhone 5, with increase in the screen size from 3.5-inches to 4-inches, was launched on September, 12, 2012 amid a frenzy of expectations.
Some might say the iPhone 5 was boring and Apple was just playing catch with Samsung smartphones in terms of features.
Key features:
4-inch IPS LCD; 1,136×640 pixels, 326 ppi
8-megapixel rare camera, 720p front-facing

But in terms of design the iPhone 5 will always remain a thing of beauty. For critics, the iPhone 5 with its thinner, slimmer design was superior to Samsung’s plastic-bodied devices, as Walt Mossberg wrote in AllThingsD
But it wasn’t just the critics who loved the phone. Fans, did line up for this one, with Apple selling over five million iPhone 5 devices in the first weekend of launch itself. iPhone 5 helped Apple regain the number one position in the US market, ( the S3 had beaten the iPhone 4S for the first time in the July-August quarter) for the final quarter.
