Islamabad: The students of today and business managers, executives researchers, consultants and corporate representatives of the future learnt some very life-like practical tips and guidelines from veteran policy makers, academicians, business and corporate executives, representatives of government and non-government organisations in a two-day International Conference on contemporary & emerging trends in business and management.
The said conference was arranged by the department of management sciences on 12th & 13th December, 2012 at National University of Modern Languages (NUML).
Closing ceremony was held today and it was addressed by Director General (DG) Brig Azam Jamal. Addressing the participants of the conference DG said “The quality Research is the need of the hour, and NUML is leaving no stone unturned to give state of art research facilities to the researchers, and this conference must inspired young and bright minds to step forward in the realm of research”.
He further told that the conference “focused on all aspects of corporate management with a view to extract fertile ideas from academia & research communities, shared concerns, evaluated the constraints, cooperatively designed strategies capable of enabling the corporate sector to address potential future challenges and prepared themselves to stay competitive”. “The academic think tanks from various countries highlighted many emerging trends in business and management, I am optimistic that these valuable research findings will be torch bearers for students of Management Sciences”, he added.
Earlier to this Dr Abdul Qayyam, from Quaid Azam School of Business, Syed Anwar ul Hassan Bukhari DG Secretariat Training Institute (Establishment Division), Mr Ali Asghar DG Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Prof Dr Peter Baillie delivered their lectures and answered the questions raised by the students.
Afterwards student presenters from different universities and institutions, including Arid Agricultural University, Rawalpindi, Preston University, MAJU, Lahore University, Iqra University Peshawar Campus and NUML presented their papers on different areas including human resource development, marketing, finance, accounting, banking, technology management, and governance.
Saleha Khaqan, who also presented a paper, talking to scribe said that “this was indeed a great experience as it served the interests of students, faculty members and academicians alike. Moreover, this gathering helped us to get your ideas refined, hear experience of other, learn contemporary and emerging trends in national and international business and management environment”.
Moreover, Dr Javaid R. Laghari, Chairperson Higher Education Commission (HEC) , Prof Dr Mohammad AkraM Chadhary, VC University of Sargodha, Dr Sermin Senturan- Turkey, Prof Dr Shami-USA, Dr Julie Flowerday, Truman State University, USA, Dr Nadeem Ul, Haque, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Pakistan also attended the conference as the guest speakers. Dr Naveed Akhtar was the Conference Convener and Muhammad Haroon Akhtar was the Deputy Convener of the conference.
In the end Rector NUML Maj Gen (R) Masood Hasan, distributed certificates in the participants and gave away shields to the guests and speakers and felicitated the Dean and faculty members of MS Department for the successful arrangement of the conference.
