Qatar: Known for his amazing speed, South Africa’s “Bladerunner” Oscar Pistorius defeated Arab race horse by a margin of more than a second in Qatar’s capital city Doha.
The 26 year-old sprinter in London earlier this year became the first double amputee to compete at the Olympic Games following two gold medals at the Paralympics.
The unusual race was part of an effort to promote disability sport and fight discrimination.
“It wasn’t about who won today, it was just about coming out here and really just showing people that those with disabilities are not to be stereotyped against,” The daily Telegraph quoted Pistorius as saying.
