New Delhi: 20 years have completed today (Thursday) to the unjustified act of demolition of Babri mosque in Ayodya, India on December 6, 1992.
Protestors for the cause on Thursday questioned non-arrest of culprits behind the incident and handling of the issue by the then government.
The mosque was demolished by the activists of the extremist Vishwa Hindu Parishad on the pretext of reclaiming their land for ‘Ram Temple, and resulted in several months of rioting between the two communities. Reports say that over 3,000 people, mostly Muslims, were killed in the clashes.
The incident called for appropriate action against the culprits but the damage had not been undone despite passage of 20 whole years. The mosque was built by Zaheeruddin Babar in 1529.
