Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday accepted Waheeda Shah, a former candidate of Pakistan People’s Party, plea for hearing against the verdict of Sindh High Court (SHC) and action taken by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over her eligibility.
An apex court bench headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk, in its verdict over Waheed Shah’s plea, also barred the ECP from holding by-election on Sindh Assembly’s constituency PS-54 on December 4.
The ECP had declared the PPP candidate ineligible for 2-year for contesting elections after she publicly slapped an officer of a polling station.
