Islamabad: Unofficial election results cannot be preferred over official ones and it is altogether a wrong practice to delay the process.
These remarks were given by Justice Nasirul Mulk of the Supreme Court of Pakistan while hearing a case on the eligibility of former candidate of Pakistan People’s Party Waheeda Shah.
The apex court said that result of 102 polling stations should not have had been delayed. Counsel for Waheeda Shah, Wakeel Hashmat had contended that his client was declared successful unofficially.
It is to be mentioned here that PPP candidate Waheeda Shah was declared ineligible for contesting elections after she publicly slapped an officer of a polling station.
She had done it allegedly to pressurize the staff despite presence of police officials there.
