Islamabad: The specialist T20 all rounder Azhar Mahmood is all set to make his comeback to Pakistan’s domestic cricket as captain of Islamabad Leopards in the upcoming Faysal Bank Twenty20 Cup.
With an introduction of the veteran cricketer in lackluster Leopards, the team will get some boost to compete other aggressive teams playing in the fascinating domestic T20 tournament.
The team failed to win a match in Pakistan’s national T20 cup the previous year and ultimately failed to succeed the subsequent Super Eight T20.
The Leopards are on a losing streak of as many as six matches in the National T20 tournaments since 2010. Last time when Mahmood featured in the line-up of the Leopards, they reached the Semi Final under captaincy of Shoaib Akhtar.
The 37-year all-rounder is considered as a T20 hot shot as he has performed awfully well for different Twenty20 franchises in the T20 leagues.
He has played 21 Tests and 143 One Days for Pakistan. In the last two years, he has played for Kent (England), Dhaka Gladiators (Bangladesh), Wayamba United (Sri Lanka), Auckland Aces (New Zealand) and Kings’ XI Punjab (India).
