Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA), Telecom Ministry, deputy attorney general on a petition pertaining ban of mobile phone service.
The SHC, hearing a petition filed by a private cellular service company, has directed the relevant authorities to appear before the court on November 22.
It has become a regular practice of Pakistani government to suspend mobile services in the country calling it a tactical move against militants who are using the mobile phones as detonators in IEDs.
The government had blocked the service on first Muharram, the Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (S.A.W.) in a bid to keep any probable acts of terrorism at bay.
