Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s longstanding ruler King Abdullah will undergo a back surgical operation here in Riyadh, country’s capital, at noon on Saturday, state news agency SPA reports.
89-year-old King Abdullah was admitted to the hospital late on Friday.
The King “will endure a surgical operation to treat the slackness in the conjoining cord in the upper back on Saturday in the King Abdulaziz Medical City for the National Guard,” said the news agency.
The government had already announced on November 11 that the monarch would have the operation. He underwent a similar operating in October last year at the same medical place.
The old age and increasing health issues of Saudi King have raised concerns about the future of Saudi Kingdom that has been governed by Al-Saud family for the last 80 years.
