New Delhi: The former President Pakistan Gen (R) Pervez Musharraf has said that Kashmir issue must be resolved in order to end the longstanding conflict between Pakistan and India.
Musharaf said that both the countries were involved in rivalry with each other due to the unsettled issues between the neighbouring countries. “The Kashmir issue gave birth to extremism in Pakistan,” he told the media in New Delhi.
General (R) Pervez Musharraf stated that lack of trust helped in creating conflicting situation among the two states. He urged both the governments to carry out necessary measures to control terrorism across the borders. “Relaxation in visa policies is also required.”
The core issue of Siachen must be brought to an end as well, he said.
Musharraf further asked the authorities on both sides if they were ready on mutual grounds to reduce the conventional and non-conventional nuclear warheads or not.
