Islamabad: The world today is observing ‘Diabetes Day’ to renew the resolve to fight the disorder that can cause serious health complications.
According to reports, there are about seven million people suffering from diabetes in Pakistan, making the country seventh highest in the world to be affected by the disease. It is feared that the country will become the fourth largest diabetic by 2030 if no measures are taken to seize spread of the illness.
WHO estimates that more than 346 million people worldwide have diabetes and this number is likely to more than double by 2030 without intervention.
Experts say that one can successfully control the disease by walking regularly, refraining from eating food that is rich in sugar and can result in obesity, and adopting a positive lifestyle. The day calls for the need to work more and more towards helping the patients in their recovery and living a healthy life.
