London: South Korea’s Samsung Mobile has launched its mid-range Android device with the latest mobile operating system, Android Jelly Bean, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, with a cheaper price tag, in the UK, with Three becoming the first mobile operator to start selling the handset.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 mini is available for free through Three UK when coupled with a qualifying plan. Potential buyers can even easily purchase the handset on Pay As You Go basis for £269.99 plus a top up.
The device can be picked up via the carrier’s retail stores and it’s expected to be in stock online from November 16 onwards. Additionally, other retailers such as Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and O2 are also offering the smartphone for free with a monthly subscription starting from £25. The carrier-unlocked variant is up for grabs through Amazon and Clove for a price of £299.99 and £310.80, respectively.
The handset isn’t all that exciting in terms of specifications, but it’s a good smartphone for those who find the full-sized Samsung Galaxy S3’s 4.8in screen too big. It features a smaller 4in 480×800 AMOLED screen along with a dual-core 1GHz processor and Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. There’s no news regarding an upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean yet.
It also comes with a 5MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, a 1,500mAh battery and support for 4G LTE connectivity.
