Islamabad: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Sunday said audit of CNG stations is a step in the right direction.
Auditors should consider all the aspects of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) business before finalising their report, it said.
The final audit report should be based on all the facets of the CNG business like international and local issues, laws, low pressure of gas, ever-increasing power tariff and opinion of all the stakeholders, said Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA.
Speaking at a meeting, he said that over 2300 CNG stations remain closed for twelve days every month due to gas load shedding causing colossal losses.
Similarly, power load shedding compels owners of CNG filling stations to run business using diesel generators which should not be overlooked.
Ghiyas Paracha said that Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) has also pushed up the cost of doing business which cannot be ignored in the evaluate profit and return of CNG stations.
He said that APCNGA, abiding by the orders of the Supreme Court, has been providing all the cooperation to the auditors appointed by Orga.
Focal person and audit firm of the APCNGA is helping ORGA and auditors to discharge their duties in a proper manner in all four provinces and federal capital.
Prices of gas provided to CNG stations is not uniform, which must be made uniform and gas provided to this sector should be measured in kilograms, Paracha demanded.
He said that some of the people related to CNG business are of the opinion that all the aspects of CNG business are not being taken into consideration by auditors which is unfortunate. It will leave report incomplete leaving all the exercise futile, he said.
