Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League chief of his own faction, Mian Nawaz Sharif Friday said that the government should end suspense over the dates of general elections, likely to be held in the country in the early part of 2013.
Talking to Geo News anchor Kamran Khan, Nawaz said that we had some serious reservations with the current government over certain policies but we had tolerated them with patience and now the government should announce the dates of the election.
“We ejected Younis habib from his post in 1990,” he said adding that if we had received any favours from him then how it was possible that we expel someone who was considered as the well-wisher of PML-N.
“Younus Habib distributed money in 1993 to topple the government of PML-N in Punjab, he also distributed money to topple the government of Pir Sabir Shah in Khyber Pakhtunkhua.”
“You know the credibility of FIA and NAB in accordance with the remarks of this honourable judiciary,” he said, while responding to a question regarding investigation by FIA in Asghar Shah Case, adding that still if the apex court had ordered FIA to investigate the matter PML-N was ready for it.
The PML-N chief said that he was not against Pakistan Army but against certain generals, who had tried to topple the democratic governments in the country.
“General Kayani has called for the supremacy of constitution and law in his recent statement,” he said adding that if someone was calling for the supremacy of the law then as a Pakistani it was my obligation to appreciate it.
The PML-N Chief said that generals had imposed Marshall Law in the country and the role of judiciary was also not good in the past as it had endorsed the Marshall Laws in the country.
“In past the politicians were abducted and hanged till death.”
He added that if the judiciary and the Pakistan Army had realized their mistakes committed in the past than it was an obligation on every Pakistani to appreciate it.
