Dhakka: Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni raised a unique demand when she met with her Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar, seeking a state level apology from Pakistan over death of millions of Bengalis in the political crisis of 1971.
Moni put her demand while in a meeting with Pakistan’s minister in Dhakka on Friday. Khar was on her official visit to invite Bangladeshi PM for Developing-8 Summit.
Khar told her counterpart that Pakistan had already met Bangladesh demand over several occasions in the past.
She urged that the two nations should forget the past and move forward for better relation in future, but Moni seemed adamant as she linked any development on future relations to Pakistan’s apology.
